This year I am noticing two key themes.
1. The role ‘receptivity’ plays in our experience
Our receptivity is the frequency we are tuning into and broadcasting at any point in time. It indicates our state of “alignment” (or misalignment).
We are like a radio station
Where is your attention? What are you generally thinking about?
These are all clues about your “receptivity” – the frequency you are broadcasting – the frequency you are tuned to.
And whatever frequency (vibration) you are tuned to – is what you are attracting more of into your experience.
Our work as conscious creators is to become more aware of our “receptivity”. How we are feeling and what we are thinking about on a day to day basis. And to make changes accordingly – at an emotional level. To pay more attention to good feeling topics and pay less attention to negative feeling topics. This is the work.
2. The theme of living life “unconditionally”
Choosing to see the best in yourself, in others, and in the world
This theme requires a paradigm shift in how we think and how we see the world and ourselves. Rather than reacting to what we see or hear around us – can we set our own “tone”? Can we choose the state of being we prefer? Can we look to the “bigger picture” – our preferred reality? Or are we puppets on a string – reacting to the external world (media, events, people).

One of my favorite topics is “brainwave entrainment“. “Entrainment” is about training your brain to work at optimal levels.
The neurosciences continue to shed light on the remarkable tool we all possess – the brain – and how we can literally train our brain to function optimally – in ways we prefer.
Have you ever wondered how your habits are formed?
The first time you think (or do) something, a neural pathway is created in your brain. Then as you think that thought again and again, the neural pathway becomes stronger.
An easy way to think about this natural process is when you walk across a stretch of grass. You leave light footprints – the grass is flattened somewhat. But if you continue to walk across the grass in the same place – gradually a path forms. In time it can become a very well worn path.
The brain’s circuitry operates in a similar way
As you think certain thoughts, it becomes easier and easier for you to continue to think them. And when a strong emotion is present with the thought, the neural pathway is etched more “deeply” – it becomes stronger – faster. This applies to all emotions – whether they are “positive” or “negative” emotions.
When we label people (or ourselves) as “optimistic” or “pessimistic”, what we’re actually doing is referring to a habit of thought developed over years. The thinking has become an automatic “set point” if you like – an automatic way of looking at the world.
The presence of a strong emotion
Recall a memorable event in your life – a birthday party, a graduation, the birth of a child, an amazing holiday…. the reason you remember the event better than thousands of other more bland events is because of the “emotional context” of the experience.
The presence of a strong emotion (excitement, happiness, joy, fear, anger, anxiety) – serves to reinforce the neural pathway in your brain – associated with the thought or experience.
How can you change an unwanted habit?
One of the easiest ways to change an unwanted habit is to start practicing the new thought or action you prefer. With continued practice, you will create a new neural pathway, a new habit of thought or behavior. In time, if you stop the old habitual thinking or behavior, the neural pathway associated with it, will literally shrivel up and fall away from dis-use.
The brain (and our whole body) is very efficient. It prunes away the “dead wood”.
Listening to brainwave audios
You can train your brain to respond even faster by listening to a backing track that contains an optimal brainwave pulse – such as the alpha state or the theta – or even delta states. In other words, by listening to professionally made “brainwave” audios designed to move your brain into optimal states.
Being “in the zone”
The alpha state of mind is when you are “in the zone” – you are feeling relaxed and confident. Your senses are alert and you are performing well.
This is the state you see top athletes in – when they are playing well. They seem to have an uncanny ability to sense the next move required. Their body moves effortlessly.
